Monday, April 9:

We are thinking about you and praying for your recovery to be full and speedy.

Today we reviewed Phrases & Abbreviations, L-Z.  The test on these is Wednesday (don't worry about it.)  We started a color check on ex. A, p. 302 and I assigned the Oral Practice, P. 302.

Your only job is to take care of yourself and listen to your mom and dad and doctors!!

Tuesday, April 10

Hope you are doing well.  We are all thinking of you and your group for the mythology project wants to record the presentation (which I have postponed until Fri.) so that you can see it.

Today, we took the Phrases, L-Z Practice test and worked on the projects.  Homework is ex. B, p. 302

Wednesday, April 11

Today we took the final Phrases, L-Z Test and worked on the group mythology projects whose due date is postponed again, this time, until Monday.   We are videotaping it and will put it on a DVD so that you can see them!   Hope you are doing better.  Let us know how you are.  No homework!

Thursday, April 12

We went over the answers to the Oral Practice, p. 302 and did a "Teacher Check" on ex. B, p. 302.  We started the new chapter and it is not anything too difficult.  It introduces 3rd declension nouns that are neuter; most of the endings are the same as the 3rd declension masculine and feminine endings.  Remember the "neuter rule" where the nom and acc neuters are spelled the SAME.  Endings are listed on p. 316; look over the new vocabulary on the same page and the model noun declined.  The homework is to do the Oral Practice as a written exercise, p. 317.  Keep up your spirits and let us know how you are doing.  Everyone sends their best.

Friday, April 13:

Today we practiced translating sentences that contained ablative absolutes.  We then covered the myth of Jason and the Argonauts.  Homework is ex. A, p. 317

Monday, April 16

Your groups' project was great!  The costumes you made looked fantastic and the acting was funny and taught a lot of new info about Daphne and Apollo.  There is no homework.  I'll get the DVD to you asap.  Hope you are recovering quickly.

Tuesday, April 17:

We covered Ch. 47 today.  It is on 3rd declension i-stem nouns.  I-stems end in -ium instead of -um in the genitive plural.  If they are neuter, they also have an extra "-i" before the nom and acc pl ending (-a).  Review the info on p. 321 and the new vocabulary on p. 320.   The "rules" for when a noun is an i-stem are on p. 321.  Homework is ex. A, p. 321.

Wednesday, April 18:

I am sending some work via your homebound teacher.  The work is based on Ch. 44-46.  Just do whatever you can and send me your answers, if possible, via e-mail (shickman@k12k.com).  I will not be able to write again until Monday afternoon.

Monday, April 23:

I got your work and below is a list of possible ways to translate the ablative absolutes.  You may pick any of these ways, but it is better to pick one and stick with that pattern:

reliquis ligatis:  after the rest were/had been bound

after binding the rest/having bound the rest

                     the rest having been bound

Use this pattern:  After/when/because/since the     abl noun       were    (abl. verb)        -ed.

The correct translation for the first sentence is:  They were driven by one unfriendly wind, after the rest had been bound.  Now they clearly see Ithaca (Ulysses' island home.)

2nd sentence:  And so, when the sack was opened, the winds, set free, drove the Greeks back to the kingdom of Aeolus.

Look over the 3rd declension adjectives in Ch. 47 and the vocabulary on p. 326-327.  Try to translate ex. A, p. 327 (review vocab on p. 324.)  Glad you are well enough to be practicing!

Tuesday, April 24

Today we took the final Jason & the Argonauts Test, reviewed the 3rd declension adjectives on p. 326.  Do the Oral Practice as a written exercise on p. 326

Wednesday, April 25:

We went over the Jason Test and practiced 3rd declension adjectives and noun declension.  The Ch. 44-46 Test is tomorrow and Friday.  It covers ablative absolutes, 3rd declension neuter nouns and third declension i-stem nouns.  I am attaching the reviews under "Bellwork and Practice" if you want to practice these.  Use the nouns and adjectives on p. 321 (i-stem nouns)and 326 (3rd declension adjectives) as a guide.   You can save them and e-mail them back to me as attachments.

Thursday, April 26:

Thank you so much for the beautiful card.  The students loved it.  We hope that you continue to improve each day.  Today we went over the vocabulary on p. 329 and the homework is to do ex. A, p. 330.  Students took the Ch. 44-46 Test and the final is tomorrow.

Friday, April 27

Students took the final Ch. 44-47 Test and we checked ex. A, p. 330.  Try to do that exercise after you look over the corrections on the homework you sent to me.  Homework for Mon. is the story, Finis Laborum, p. 323, lines 1-10.   Have a good weekend!
